The Peay Family

Our blog about Brandon, EmmaLee & Jaymz!

Life is Full of Changes

We have some more changes happening in our family and NO it is NOT a baby, sorry to get your hopes up, but we are moving to our own place, I am so excited to have my own space again! It is still here in Valley and we will have plenty of space for dinner parties, play dates, family and friends get togethers and visitors! We will be moving soon so we may need some of your help…just be waiting for a call.

Another change that has happened is that I got a job in the evenings at Terra Mia Ristorante, so I am now a working mom! I am excited and nervous about leaving Jaymz, I know he will do great and it will help facilitate his independence. I am very glad that it is in the evening so we will not have to hire a sitter and he is in the best hands (other than mine). The one thing I am really going to miss is putting my little guy to bed at night, we have our entire routine down and it just saddens me to know that I will not be giving him kisses right before he goes to sleep at night, although I have full faith in Papa that he will give him a great big hug and kiss from me every night!

The one change I am not ready for yet is the seasonal change from summer to fall and then comes the dreadful winter, can’t it just be summer forever?!?! I think I could move somewhere it stays warm all year around, but as for now I love being here in Utah with my friends and family. Fall and winter are the only downsides of living next to the wonderful Wasatch Mountains. Some changes are sad and some are good we just have to remember that in the long run all changes make you who you are.

One of My Favorites

I just love this picture of Jaymz, it is one of my favorites because it shows off his personality so nicely. This picture was taken on one of our many bikes rides up the canyon this summer, we have so much fun on our bike rides! We have tried to go on a bike ride at least every Sunday evening since getting our bikes back from the shop in July and we have done it plus some others! We go on our ride and have a picnic together or play wherever the ride may take us then ride back home. I love spending quality time with my family while being active! I am hoping to keep this up and enjoy many more bike rides together before it gets too cold. I just have to say again I love this picture of Jaymz; he is my sweet heart, I love him to death and he is my favorite little man!

Lindon Days

Lindon Days was earlier this month; I have always loved Lindon Days, a small town feeling with lots of fun!  This year was great…we participated in the family fun bike race, swimming at the pool for half price, the car show, the parade, the Home Depot Kids Workshop, and last but not the least live music and fireworks!

The only bad thing about Lindon Days…it means summer is almost over and I am NOT ready for fall and  winter to come!

At Last…Walking Again!

On Monday Jaymz finally took his first steps since the Big Crash on the Big Slide!  We were at the Lindon Days Car Show and he wanted to play on the playground, we told him only if he was up and walking again. So we just past the playground and kept looking at the cars. Once we were done we asked Jaymz if he wanted to go home or stay and look at the cars some more; he wanted to stay, but go to the playground and play so I told him I would help him over to the playground but he would have to walk, so he did with a limp.

At first I felt bad for pushing him to walk because he was limping and would not walk or even stand for the rest of the night. But once he woke up Tuesday morning he started walking again and he has been walking more and more ever since. Today he was even trying to run and jump, we are just not quite there yet but we will soon be back to normal! I think it gave him the confidence he needed to know everything would be okay, plus it beats crawling around everywhere. I am now extremely happy that I pushed him to walk and so is my back!

Jaymz’s New Friend

About a month ago Jaymz made a friend at the Lindon Pool, Zayne.  The great thing was I knew his mommy Britni from way back in the day. I cannot remember how we met but we knew each other; maybe from school, work, or a mutual friend (who really cares) but we are friends on Facebook so that means I have stocked her profile and have seen Zayne since he was pretty much born, he is such a cutie. Anyways we decided since the boys played so well together at the pool we should have them have a playdate together. It took a while to get together but it was well worth the wait to play at the Kangaroo Zoo!  The only thing I wish was that Jaymz could have ran around like he usually does but his leg has still been hurting him and he still will not walk on it; oh well we had a blast anyways!  I think Britni and I got a great workout piggy backing the boys up the big slide! Here are some of the pics from the day, thanks for the pics and a great day Britni and Zayne!

Jaymz’s Owie Leg

We have had a traumatic last few days!  Last Thursday we went to help my Step-Dad Bill out with a scout soccer game at on someone’s private property with a playground, playhouse’s & a huge slide.  It was lots of fun; we played in the playhouses, went down the slide & ate ice-cream. Brandon had taken pictures of Jaymz & I going down the slide but I had missed Brandon & Jaymz so I talked them into going down one more time before we left.  This was the biggest mistake because on that trip down the slide Brandon & Jaymz crashed! We could not get Jaymz to stop crying but could not see what was wrong with him; we both thought he might have gotten a burn from rubbing the metal so we left. The only thing about that was that he would not stand on it at all. So of course I called the doctor’s office to see if we should come in or not & the nurse told me to wait until the morning to see if he was still acting the same. Morning came & he still would not stand so we took him into the doctors, had x-rays done, & had a splint put on.

Once we got home we got the call that there was no broken bone & by the movement he did have it was not a sprain…he had a bruised bone & he would not be walking for the next few days & it just needs time to heal. He doesn’t have to wear the splint it is more for support & keeping it from being bumped so we have him wear it on & off throughout the day. It was good news but also bad…Brandon & I both feel so bad for our little man but everyday he seems to get a little better.

Through all of this craziness Jaymz has a cousin to go through it with, Presley.  If we were not going to help with the scouts soccer game we would have went to Presley’s last baseball game of the season where he fell and hurt his arm. He went to the doctors and they didn’t see anything broken on the x-rays but since there was fluid in the elbow he needs to see a specialist this next week, so here are the two boy cousins in the family who got hurt the same evening within minutes of each other with their splints. We hope that Presley’s has a good result once he meets with the specialist.

Motorcycle Rides

On Saturday we took Jaymz on a bike ride to my moms house (3 blocks away).  This was his first official ride (he road it at about 10 months for about a foot) and he loved it!  He was pretty nervous at first but then he wanted more. We are going to look at the Harley store to see what the smallest size of helmet there is so he can ride it legally but we are really excited that he enjoyed the ride.

We also took all of my little siblings on a ride around the block, they seemed to enjoy it.

Last Minute Camping

Last week we thought it would be fun to go camping up American Fork Canyon for the weekend. On Friday I was talking with my Aunt Debbie about our plans to go up camping and she thought it would be fun to join us and bring my cousins, Jordan and Josh with her. We planned on finding a campground close to each other so we could enjoy each others company. What we didn’t know is that everyone else in Utah County thought the same thing we did. We searched for hours; going up different canyons for somewhere to camp, finally with 6 hours of searching behind us we decided to head home and camp in our backyard.

We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows to make S’mores. We played though the night, Jaymz thought it was pretty cool to play outside in the dark. We slept in the tent and made a big breakfast in the morning.  In the afternoon Brandon taught us how to whittle. While whittling Jordan asked Brandon to show everyone his knife and sword collection; Jordan was super cute wanting to get every pose with the sword he could think of captured on camera. We did everything we had planned except for one thing…hiking and instead the boys went down stairs and played Legos and the Wii while Debbie and I chatted for hours.

We had so much fun in our backyard I don’t even know why we wasted all that gas to find a place on the mountain, we may never go camping up to the canyon again (we had electricity, very nice restrooms and water at our pleasure). J/K, we will try another weekend up the canyon but it was fun anyways and we may set up the tent again in the backyard just for some fun.

Independence Day

This year we got home from the Cook Family Reunion just in time to join the Lundberg’s for a Family BBQ and Fireworks on the deck.  Maddi and Jaymz had lots of fun playing in the back yard and us adults had a good time chatting with each other.  The food was so good, we ate so much are stomachs hurt!  I didn’t realize how long it has it been a since I have been on the deck to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks…all the trees have grown and cover a lot of the lower ones.  Even though we could not see all of the fireworks we enjoyed them  a lot and Jaymz cuddled up to me on my lap and watched them, although by the time they where over he had fallen to sleep…such a sweet little guy!

Sunday the 4th we went to Baby Jersey’s Blessing, she is so sweet (I think she makes me a little baby hungry). It was nice to talk with the extended family, we are so excited that we live close enough to go to these special events, even though we miss all of our friends back in Colorado.

Later that evening we went to our church’s retirement fireside (the church was bought by the city and will become a city center).  It  was  heart breaking because it was my childhood church building and my family has had 4 generations that have gone to that church.  I am glad that it is not being torn down but I am still sad.

That night once we got home and got a little settled in we did some fireworks on the street.  Again Jaymz loved them and wanted to keep doing them even after they were all gone, we may have a pyro sooner than later!

It was so fun to spend the entire weekend with family!

Cook Family Reunion

Last week we went to the Cook Family Reunion and had lots of fun at Camelot Resort with hiking, tubing, eating yummy food, and just relaxing away from home.  I am so proud of Jaymz for hiking up the mountain to look over our lodge without a carrying pack; he hiked about half the way and when he needed a little break Brandon and I carried him for a minute then he was ready to hike again.  We had so much fun in the water riding the tubes down the river, Jaymz wanted to do it again and again!  It was a fun experience and we hope we can go again next year!
