On Saturday we took Jaymz on a bike ride to my moms house (3 blocks away). This was his first official ride (he road it at about 10 months for about a foot) and he loved it! He was pretty nervous at first but then he wanted more. We are going to look at the Harley store to see what the smallest size of helmet there is so he can ride it legally but we are really excited that he enjoyed the ride.

We also took all of my little siblings on a ride around the block, they seemed to enjoy it.

Last week we thought it would be fun to go camping up American Fork Canyon for the weekend. On Friday I was talking with my Aunt Debbie about our plans to go up camping and she thought it would be fun to join us and bring my cousins, Jordan and Josh with her. We planned on finding a campground close to each other so we could enjoy each others company. What we didn’t know is that everyone else in Utah County thought the same thing we did. We searched for hours; going up different canyons for somewhere to camp, finally with 6 hours of searching behind us we decided to head home and camp in our backyard.

We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows to make S’mores. We played though the night, Jaymz thought it was pretty cool to play outside in the dark. We slept in the tent and made a big breakfast in the morning. In the afternoon Brandon taught us how to whittle. While whittling Jordan asked Brandon to show everyone his knife and sword collection; Jordan was super cute wanting to get every pose with the sword he could think of captured on camera. We did everything we had planned except for one thing…hiking and instead the boys went down stairs and played Legos and the Wii while Debbie and I chatted for hours.

We had so much fun in our backyard I don’t even know why we wasted all that gas to find a place on the mountain, we may never go camping up to the canyon again (we had electricity, very nice restrooms and water at our pleasure). J/K, we will try another weekend up the canyon but it was fun anyways and we may set up the tent again in the backyard just for some fun.

This year we got home from the Cook Family Reunion just in time to join the Lundberg’s for a Family BBQ and Fireworks on the deck. Maddi and Jaymz had lots of fun playing in the back yard and us adults had a good time chatting with each other. The food was so good, we ate so much are stomachs hurt! I didn’t realize how long it has it been a since I have been on the deck to watch the Stadium of Fire fireworks…all the trees have grown and cover a lot of the lower ones. Even though we could not see all of the fireworks we enjoyed them a lot and Jaymz cuddled up to me on my lap and watched them, although by the time they where over he had fallen to sleep…such a sweet little guy!

Sunday the 4th we went to Baby Jersey’s Blessing, she is so sweet (I think she makes me a little baby hungry). It was nice to talk with the extended family, we are so excited that we live close enough to go to these special events, even though we miss all of our friends back in Colorado.

Later that evening we went to our church’s retirement fireside (the church was bought by the city and will become a city center). It was heart breaking because it was my childhood church building and my family has had 4 generations that have gone to that church. I am glad that it is not being torn down but I am still sad.

That night once we got home and got a little settled in we did some fireworks on the street. Again Jaymz loved them and wanted to keep doing them even after they were all gone, we may have a pyro sooner than later!

It was so fun to spend the entire weekend with family!

Last week we went to the Cook Family Reunion and had lots of fun at Camelot Resort with hiking, tubing, eating yummy food, and just relaxing away from home. I am so proud of Jaymz for hiking up the mountain to look over our lodge without a carrying pack; he hiked about half the way and when he needed a little break Brandon and I carried him for a minute then he was ready to hike again. We had so much fun in the water riding the tubes down the river, Jaymz wanted to do it again and again! It was a fun experience and we hope we can go again next year!

For Jaymz’s birthday we got him tickets to have a day out with Thomas the Tank Engine. Brandon and I were nervous that it would not be worth the money, but we had such a great time at the Herber Valley Railroad, spending the day with Thomas we think we may do it again next year!

Before going the the Heber Valley Railroad to see Thomas we had lunch at the “Home of the Train ~ Dairy Keen,” in Heber, if you don’t already know it is the cutest burger place there is. They have a train that rides around the dining area for everyone to see and it usually has the Heber Creeper on it but this day they changed it to Thomas for the special arrival.

It was a chilly day but we wore our jackets and did all the activities they had planned for us, such as mini golfing, story time, and of course meeting Sir Topham Hatt.

Jaymz thought it was awesome to see a big Thomas and he love riding in the cars that Thomas pulled. We sat in the seat labeled James – Jaymz thought it was the coolest even though the picture doesn’t show it because he was not sure about standing on the seat.

Although Jaymz was a little disappointed when we said we were going to meet Thomas and take a picture that he was not able to get on him and ride him with the conductor so those pictures did not turn out the greatest.

I think the funnest thing we did all day was the free little diesel train car ride. It was really fast and Jaymz loved zooming by Thomas!

All in all it was a great day that our little family enjoyed.

Sorry I have not been keeping up on my what’s for dinner blogs, life has been really busy here! So here is one of our new favorite salads, we just do not add the peas anymore. I love it; it is very light and fresh…great for summer BBQ’s. We have also just had the salad all by itself, we just love it so much!

Here are the scrapbook pages for Jaymz’s Arts & Crafts Birthday Party! I had so much fun planning this party, the only problem was coming up with the money because I had so many fun ideas (I ended up having to cut a lot of them out because of money and time). At the last minute we had to bring the party inside because of such a rainy morning which made us cut out wall painting and drawing on the sidewalk. Brandon thought of a game to do instead, guessing what the items where on the t-shirt I made for Jaymz’s Big Day! We also made sock puppets (a big hit with the kids) then ate goodies and had cake and ice-cream. We loved having everyone over for all fun!

Just before Jaymz’s birthday he got his haricut by his Aunt Deanna @ Cookie Cuters! I have a few reasons for finally allowing his curls to be cut off:
1st, I was sick of people asking how old “she” was and needing to correct them.
2nd, he needed to look his age and for some reason shorter hair on boys makes them look older.
and finally the 3rd, which is the most important reason of all, Jaymz asked me to cut his hair, he wanted to be like the big boys – Daddy, Shilo, & Presley (he has seen all of them get their hair cut multiple times)
Jaymz’s Birthday was this last week and we did a week of celebrating! On his birthday we had donuts for breakfast, opened presents from Brandon and I, and a Jaymz & Daddy had dinner out (I needed to go to Relief Society to get my CPR certification). The next night we went to Tepanyaki for dinner (Jaymz loves to watch the Hibachi Chef cook). Then on Saturday we had his craft birthday party, it was a blast, I enjoyed all the work I put into it and I hope everyone else did as well. Jaymz has become such a big boy and he is very independent, I love him more and more everyday and hope he has another great year!
Some of the things he loves at the moment:
- Strawberries, Cheese, Watermelon, Sushi (if he has dipping sauce – soy sauce), Rolls/Bread. I am so glad he will pretty much try anything as long as he has dip dip (ketchup or a sauce he likes) and usually once he tries something he will eat it.

Birthday Pictures will be posted soon!

Our Wedding Day May 2004
WOW! 6 years fly’s by when you are having fun with the one you love, who is also your best friend! I still cannot believe I have been married for 6 years, a lot has changed since our wedding day in 2004. We moved to Colorado and after 5 years of being there we moved back here to Utah. We have gone through many different jobs and I think I have the best one now (being a mommy). We have had our wonderful and amazing baby, Jaymz – who is not much of a baby anymore, plus we have had many other changes through the years. The most constant thing I have through all of these changes is my wonderful husband Brandon, the only change he has had is that he has gotten older; he is still always there when I need him. He is my rock, my support, he does not judge and I love him more today than on our wedding day 6 years ago.

Brandon found this awesome website that helps with meal planning called Relish!. I have been trying it out and so far I have really liked it, it makes meal planning much easier and it does not take nearly as long to plan for the week. This is one of the meals that we have enjoyed from Relish!, Breakfast Burritos with Spicy Potatoes.
If you want a recipe just ask and I can send it to you.
